I finally finished the manga!! Hoorays!! It's so sweet, so sweet, so sweet!!! How i wish they really acted it out on tv.. *sighs*

Anyway.. my horoscope today is freaky~ Read this...

Cancer - Recent frustrations about your progress (or lack thereof) on the job will vanish if you take the time to examine any attitudes that are holding you back. Next step: finding ways to get rid of them. Get started.

I just got back my hideous result slip 3 days ago. *face of horror*

is this a god sent warning??

Have been going crazy reading the manga Janice lent me recently. It's Hanakimi, comic form. It's really funny and there's a lot more development compared to the serial drama. The tv show is just TOO SHORT!! A lot more sweeter moments between Ruixi and Quan in the manga too.. *daydreams*

Anyway, met up with Bibi, Monica and Natalia last Sunday. We got Bibi a Roxy bikini for her birthday!! Haha! Bibi.. i know you'll be reading this.. i want to see you in it on April 21st!!! =P It's been 3 months since we met up and there was so much to talk about.. catching up on each others' lives. They're really a special bunch of friends and i'm glad to have known them. YOU GALS ARE SPECIAL, u hear me?!?! Lol..

And i finally got a medical appt to fall on a wednesday.. heh heh heh.. that means i can pon be excused from pdp! woots! ;)

Well nothing much has been going on in my life, so really dunno what to write. Just merely living day to day.. as Wendy puts it.. a mundane life. So sad. Oh ya, I received my result slip today. We didn't have block tests so they just took the results of the lecture tests. Probably the ugliest and worst result slip i have ever received so far in my 18 years. Ewww...

Yesterday night was movie night for the family and we watched PRIMEVAL. Shitty movie. I predicted I would get a good laugh watching the movie, and surely, i did. It looks more like a movie for a Burundi Civil War (*ding ding* rings a bell?) and the croc just happens to be a supporting cast. The Gustav only appeared for like 30% of the movie!! Like what the......

Seriously, the show was SO disappointing my dad threw the disc into the rubbish bin immediately after he took it out of the player. Rubbish bin is where rubbish belongs.

The March Holidays are over. While I'm glad to be seeing my pals again, and that the new timetable is pretty alright, i still don't like going to school, or should i say, studying, for that matter. Nonetheless, we started off with a enjoyable first day at school. And i managed to get my well sought-after afternoon nap. I was really shagged. Bleh.

Explorations in Ethnicity.

I feel compelled to have to blog on my experience at the EiE camp that was held on the weekends of the March Holidays. Though i busted the last two days of slacking during the holidays, i never regretted ever going for this camp. I learnt alot, realised alot, and most of all, beautiful friendships came out of it.

Connie, Siti, Lin Xun, Hasyim, Yvonne, Allen and Sean. These people were the ones who made my camping experience special and memorable. They're as crazy as 3106 if not worse. Haha!

On to the activities. Much of the 2 days was spent on discussions, and there was one physical activity throughout the camp, which was Tug of War. It may sound boring here, but the discussions were my favourite activity of all because it really allowed for a flow of ideas and exchange of criticism and opinions. Everyone was open and frank about their views. There was no holding back. Most of all, it set me thinking alot about issues i would have never bothered to think about.

As a chinese and being the majority race in Singapore, we don't really face the problem of racism. Through this camp, it opened my eyes to the extent racism is taking place in Singapore, and the misgivings the minority race are facing. It has also made me realise that Race is actually a social construct - something imposed by society and is not scientific. Yet, can we really do away with race?

The first topic we touched on was Inter-racial marriages. It's sad to know that some of my friends had to go through with grappling what to do with their relationship due to parental objections on the race of the other half. This discussion showed how Love is NOT blind. Again, like what i said in one of my previous posts, Love is very practical. Would my parents allow my to marry a Malay? Would they like the idea of me converting? Why is it that in some circumstances, race has to play such a important factor in deciding whether you can be together or not? Doesn't love triumph everything? Apparently not.

One other activity besides discussion of TOW was Drumming. Several percussion instruments were brought in, and we were like a symphony band creating noise. Lol. Under the guidance of the facilitators, we were split into 3 groups, each learning a different tune and rhythm, which added up to the big picture when combined together. I played the Bongo? on the second day. While my hands ended up pretty red and slightly swollen, i still liked that instrument the most. =) Initially, I didn't see the point of the drumming session. The only reason i could come up with was to show the harmony between the different races blah blah blah. Typical stuff you know? Yet, when the discussion took over, i was enlightened on how much more there is behind this.

Throughout the drumming, there were 2 big drums which played the guiding rhythm. The facis took cues from this rhythm on when to start the other groups to play. So, in society, who plays the drums and who takes the role as the conductor? Does the drum represent the government or does the majority race play the drum? Who is fit to play the conductor with the job of telling us what rhythm to play and when to start and stop? Such are the thought-provoking questions brought forth to us that really changed my impression of the activity.

One more. Life Journey. This took place during Saturday night, and we took the longest among all the other groups. We were given mahjong paper and we had to sketch out our, well, as the name suggests, life journey. Include esp the events that had impacted our life the most and those that has allowed us to grow to be who are today. I must say each of us had no qualms about sharing our lives. We are not ashamed about what has happened and we took everything with a pinch of salt. For me.. well, while i had thought that i was already immune to talking about the skin infection incident that happened in Sec 3, i was wrong. The struggle still haunts me whenever i talk about it and i cried la. So malu. Haha. The reason why i liked this activity so much was because it allowed all of us to connect in another level. Emotionally. Mentally. I believe it is only when you bare your heart out to people will others do the same, and this really pulls a friendship together as we rely on each other.

In a nutshell, this has been the most purposeful camp i've attended. And we have made it a point to really keep in touch. I've attended school SLC camps but i dont see the friendship that has blossomed like how it has in this camp, which is only TWO days compared to a THREE day SLC camp. Also, the activities that took place, i felt, really brought out the main point of this camp and ultimately i did walk away with true lessons. I think SLC camps cant achieve that at all. The main idea is to build leadership but does it really? Well, each to his own.

It's the March holidays!!

Heh ok i guess it's a bit to late to say this but it feels good to be able to sleep in after a whole term of waking up so early! I can turn in late too.. heehee. Spent the whole of Monday and Tuesday to pia finish the Full Metal Alchemist series Calesta lent me.. now I'M LEFT WITH THE LAST EPISODE!! SHIFU!! I guess today i did the most meaningful thing, which is my GP presentation. Again, a day's effort into it. And I'm still not done. But my eyes hurt. So i'm gonna leave the rest to tomorrow.

Today, I realised something. After i finished watching HanaKimi, I was overwhelmed in utter happiness. I was listening to the songs in the show, and was in such a happy state. Haha! I guess, that happiness was derived from the love Ella and Wu Zun were showing each other in the show. I immersed myself in the show so much that i felt so much for the characters. Thats me I guess. However, being so utterly happy, I knew I would be sad later. I never understood why my mood tends to switch just like that, but i felt enlightened somehow today.

Being in love is a beautiful thing. But sometimes, such love is transient. The love in real life is different from the love in reel life. Fantasies become reality in reel life. But the truth is, reality doesn't come from a fantasy. Love is actually selfish, stubborn and practical. More often than not, it's difficult to find love like the ones you see in the TV screen. Love in there is naive, innocent, and sweet like honey. I believe, i'm sad because it's such a pity that true love is not like that. Happy endings last for that split second, and then it's back to the practicality of life.

How saddening.

that's just my take on love. seeing so many of my friends falling in and out of love, this is the conclusion i have arrived to regarding this topic. Some of you may disagree with me, and if you do, please share your views! i'll be delighted to hear from anyone!

anyway, I finally finished watching HanaKimi. It was a great show and I have to thank Ying Qi for introducing it to me! And Yvonne for kickstarting me in watching the first episode. This show has been a great stress releaser. Talking to Calesta about it in school can get both of us high sia! Lol.. A pity it's over, and the ending was pretty lame too. Haha.. don't worry, no spoilers here. I'm gonna miss Ella and Wu Zun! Let's hope for a part 2 ba!

While some stuckup scumbags like ivan puts a slight dent into my day, my life is filled with enough colourful happenings to prevent him from dulling it.

Yesterday's dinner gathering with the clique was thoroughly enjoyable. Swensens in PS hasn't lost its touch. My dinners there has been the most pleasant of all Swensens experiences. Joked and gossiped a lot... haha. Typical female gathering i must say. Looking forward to another during the March holidays. I wanna go K box!

Came home to another delightful surprise. Uncle Vernon bought us chocolates all the way from Switzerland. Mom got the best deal of us all! A big box of heart-shaped Godiva chocolates in different flavours and colours! It was a very beautiful box of chocolates. I got a smaller box of Belgium Pralines. Perfect since I was going to finish my supply of Lindt Swiss Thins soon. xD

Lovely chocs for Mom

Lovely chocs for me! <3 Today sent me another chocolate surprise as well! Tze Woon and Wei Min got a few of us Godiva dark and milk chocolates! Weeeee!! Haha.. thanks guys! Also watched Letters from Iwo Jima with Calesta and Xin Mei at PS today. XM got there just in time to catch the last commercial before the show started! Smooth sailing day today. I love half days. You study a bit and play a bit. Great combination. I pity it's our last half day! I only hope that we'll get another one for excellent PW results.. =P

The dark chocolate is superb~

Now i have a chocful supply of chocolates.. it's gonna last me a LONG LONG time... ( i think =P )

I'm still a happy girl. x)

I recall sitting at the back of Hai Sing's school hall, watching my seniors receive their results. The excitement in the air was palpable, as Mrs Koh annouced the top scorers of the level. The whole level, contained in their own anxiety of what was to come, probably would never have noticed the big bunch of us Sec fours sitting behind. Watching them receive their results, I suddenly became motivated and pressured. Mixed feelings overwhelmed me and out of the blue, a huge stone was weighing me down. I wanted to do well for my O's.

Fast forward in time. I'm now in J2. Just 2 days ago, I received my first A level result - Chinese. Disappointing as it was, there wasn't anything i could do about it. Maybe sulk a little, be sad a little, but life still had to go on. We tried to squeeze outside the hall to watch the seniors get their results, but most of the doors were closed so there wasn't much to see. the fact that everyone standing in front of me was taller didn't help either. Yet, despite not being to see much, just hearing them from outside was enough to spark the same feelings i felt behind the hall at HSC. I want to do well for my A's.

However, this wish seems a lot harder to achieve. In secondary school, i was able to do well for most of my tests and exams, so the wish to excel for my O's didn't seem so far. NOW, IT'S A DIFFERENT STORY ALTOGETHER. My repeatedly horrid results for the past year doesn't really put me near to fulfilling that wish of mine.

Alas. It's time to change. Even if i don't achieve straight A's this time round, i want to have at least have 3 A's on that pink judgement paper.

It's insane how some people can simply have no regard of others around him, and how they can just blatantly disrespect them, without a hint of regret or guilt. Today's encounterS at school were simply horrid. One who basically thinks TOO highly of himself to care about what his board of directors would have to say; and another, an egoistical bastard who holds no hint of respect for my bio teacher. (all because of someone who took his PEN and went off with it. Sheesh!) It's amazing how some people have IQ (though i beg to differ for the former), but yet have no EQ.

The world doesn't revolve around you. and hey, without you, i can safely say the world will be a better place.
